Maybe the Mets feel they can win this way:
Because, right now, thats the only way the Mets will win. Nelson Figueroa, starting in place of Johan Santana, was pretty good; going 5 innings, 4 hits, 2 runs (one earned), striking out 2. He only went 5, I assume to the same pitch count that Redding was on. Sean Green loaded the bases, but escaped, and K-Rod came in the 8th, and walked one, but did strike out 2. Sean West went 6 innings, giving up 1 run despite the Mets having 9 baserunners. Well, the Mets left 9 on. They managed 1 hit and 1 walk against the Marlins bullpen in 3 innings, and both came against the same person. The Mets scored when Tatis drove in Francoeur, after he had doubled. The Mets had the bases loaded, and one out in the 5th, but Francoeur fouled out to first, and Tatis struck out. Anderson Hernandez had some bad defense that led to the second Marlins run. So in honor of him, this is what you get when you type "Anderson Hernandez fail" on google images.
Luis Ayala. By the way, one of the results from "Fernando Tatis fail" is Benny Agbayani. Interesting. Nick Evans has been called up, by the way!!! Finally.
Stupid Decision of the Day: Pagan getting caught stealing in the seventh. The break even point is 70%, meaning Pagan has to be a 70% base stealer. This year Pagan is 11/17, meaning a 64.7% success rate. So, he shouldn't of run.
Random Thought of the Day: As Oliver Perez might miss Friday's start (hurt ego) our rotation is now Figueroa, Pelfrey, Redding, Misch, Parnell.
Clutch Play of the Game: Tatis RBI single in 4th. +.114 WPA.
Up Next for the Mets: Mets at Marlins, 7:10 PM ET
Mike Pelfrey (9-8, 4.67 ERA 3.97 FIP 4.60 tRA) makes his first start as ace of the staff. He faces the Marlins ace,
Josh Johnson (12-3 2.99 ERA 3.15 FIP 3.43 tRA)
PS Livan Hernandez has been signed by the Nationals. He will throw a no hitter against our lineup.
