Extreme Blow-Rod Fail, Lose 6-2

I hate you Francisco Rodriguez, I really hate you, and you are actually really crap, and if we were to go to the playoffs I could not see us advancing because of you, and you blowing games. Oliver Perez pitched well, extremely well, 6.1 innings, 2 hits, 2 walks, 7 k's, and a run. Stokes came in for 1.2, walked 2 (both intentional), struck out one, and did not let an inherited runner score. He walked the leadoff man, Blanks, then gave up a tieing double to Venable, walked Blanco, intentionally walked Salazar, and gave up a walk off grand slam to Evereth Cabrera. He did not get an out. We scored our runs in the first, when Wright drove in Pagan, and then scored on a wild pitch. Wright went 3/4, and Francoeur 2/4. But, back to K-Rod. One of the best ways to evaluate closers is by Win Probability Added, which measures the chances a team has to win before and after a play. When a team has a lead in the 9th, they have a higher chance to win, whcih goes down if the closer allows runners on, or ties the game. This year, K-Rod's WPA is 1.31, below such great pitchers as Pedro Feliciano, and former Met for a week, Darren O'Day. Last year, he had a 3.33 WPA. Alan Schwarz wrote a good article on it, last year. I think that Rodriguez should not be the closer anymore. He has blown the last 2 games he has been in, he always has rough innings. Let someone like Stokes, or Feliciano close.
Stupid Decision of the Day: K-Rod not having back spasms, or something, and letting someone else get the save.
Random Thought of the Day: At least it was not a walk off balk.
Clutch Play of the Game: Wild Pitch scoring Wright, +8.8%
Up Next for the Mets: Mets at Padres, 10:05 PM ET
Bobby Parnell (2-3 3.74 ERA, 3.55 FIP, 3.75 tRA all as reliever) makes his 1st start.
Mat Latos (3-1 2.66 ERA, 5.23 FIP, 6.20 tRA) pitches for San Diego.
