Angel Pagan did not hit a homer in 2 years before the one tonight. If he doesn't hit another home run for another 2 years its okay, because of his game tying grand slam in the 8th. Oliver Perez struggled threw another start again, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned in 5 innings. He gave up 6 hits, 5 walks, and struck out 7. He threw 112 pitches in 5 innings. Its such a joke that a guy who gets $12 million this year struggles to get threw 5 innings, and he's getting 5 innings, consistently. The biggest waste of $36 million. Except for maybe Mo Vaughn. Down 2-0 in the fourth, the Mets went for some good old manufacturing. Sullivan had an RBI single, Cora RBI ground out, Schneider hit a double, and then Pagan sac fly. Perez gave up a run in the fifth, on a passed ball on what was ball 4. The Mets then got their 5th run, (Manufactured in Joe Morgan style!!!!!!) when Wright, who singled, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a ground out by Jeff Francoeur. Parnell gave up 2 runs in the 6th, to tie the game. Tim Redding (AHHHHH) and Pedro Feliciano combined to throw a perfect 2 innings. In the home half of the eighth, Cora walked, Santos hit a pinch hit single, Angel Berroa (!!!) singled, and then Pagan hit the grand slam. Brian Stokes came in the 9th, and got the first two out, gave up a homer to Reynolds, and then walked Snyder. Jerry promptly brought in K-Rod, who got Montero to pop out to Castillo. Daniel Murphy batted 4th; Mets won. Mets record with Murphy batting 4th: 6-0. Maybe he's lucky.
Somewhat Stupid Decision of the Day: Not letting Stokes finish the game, Jerry. You can bring in K-Rod a batter later. Its a shame you were so quick to pull Stokes, but you didn't do that 2 days ago with Green.
Random Thought of the Day: How long with the 3 catchers? Also, when can Nick Evans come up for either Sullivan or Reed?
Clutch Play of the Game: Pagan grand slam. +21.1% WPA.
