Angel Berroa

I understand the Mets must have an middle infielder, but is there really no one in the organization who is better than Angel Berroa? Looking at the translated stats at baseball prospectus (which is a very useful tool) there are 3 players in Buffalo who are better than Angel Berroa and his .094 EqA. (equivalent average-- a baseball prospectus stat that uses a batting average scale: .260 is average, .300 is good, .220 sucks.) They are Javier Castillo (.272), a shortstop, and Luis Rivera (.226), a shortstop, and someone we already saw, Wilson Valdez (.222 EqA). So why someone the Yankees released? I mean, all of these guys can play second and short. I know its not a big move to be pissed about, but its the principle. If a guys sucks on the Yankees, how is he going to be any better on the Mets (granted the Yankees are much much better then us).
